graves facetting hand piece
thingiverse
I purchased a Graves Mark IV faceting machine, only to discover that its accuracy was questionable. Upon thoroughly inspecting each component, I found shims placed around the bearings of one part in particular. Further investigation revealed that these shims were originally installed by the factory due to a flawed casting and machining process for this specific part. As it's nearly impossible to obtain a replacement from the manufacturer at an affordable price, or guarantee its quality, I decided to fabricate my own using a 3D printer. After several attempts, I successfully produced a functional replica of the part in just four tries.
