Grave stele
myminifactory
Found in Athens, this magnificent monument takes the form of a naiskos with elegant pilasters, an epistyle, and a beautifully tiled roof. The names of the figures depicted are carefully engraved on the epistyle: Kephisokritos, son of Glaukon from the deme Kydathenaion, and his lovely daughter Stratyllis, daughter of Kephisokritos. A wise, bearded Kephisokritos is shown sitting regally in a chair, draped in a dignified himation and holding firmly onto his staff. He warmly greets his daughter Stratyllis with a hearty handshake. The young girl wears a stylish sleeved chiton, a people girt at the waist, and a himation that elegantly covers her back. A renowned statue of Zeus or Asklepios likely served as the model for Kephisokritos' imposing figure.
