Grave stele

Grave stele

myminifactory

A grave stele crafted from Pentelic marble stands in Omonia Square, Athens. A woman seated on a stool extends her right hand to a standing relative, who gently grasps it at the wrist and lifts the other hand in a speech gesture. At the left, a girl is lost in thought. A small partridge pecks at the ground beneath the dead woman's seat. Originally, the monument known as the 'stele of farewell' had the form of a naiskos with a pediment, pilasters and pedestal. The work has a moving immediacy found in other smaller grave monuments like the lekythos inv. no. 3486. This object is part of "Scan The World". Scan the World is a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory to create a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from around the world for public access at no cost.
