Grave stele
myminifactory
This imposing tombstone originated from Thespiai, a city located in the region of Boeotia. The carving depicts a semi-naked young man proudly wearing a cloak draped over his shoulder. In his left hand, he confidently grasps both a strigil and a pouch. At the bottom, a loyal dog is vividly portrayed. It is likely that this figure represents an accomplished athlete. A greeting inscription "Greetings Agathokles" is cleverly inscribed at the top of the tombstone, which was probably added later on. The craftsmanship can be attributed to a skilled artisan from a Boeotian workshop.
