In the ancient cemetery of Kerameikos, Athens, archaeologists discovered a remarkable stele. The right side of this intricate relief has been meticulously restored with plaster to preserve its original beauty. Adorning the stele is a stunning loutrophoros positioned between two elegant lekythoi. Above the preserved lekythos on the left, an alabastron hangs from a ribbon, adding a touch of refinement to the artwork. The lekythos features a captivating depiction of a nude youth engaged in playful activities with a hoop. On the belly of the loutrophoros, an Athenian horseman bidding farewell to his aged father stands out, while the young warrior's horse occupies the background and a youth wearing a himation is visible at the right edge. Above this representation, the name of the deceased man, Panaitios from the deme of Hamazanteia, is incised in elegant script.
