Susie Melissa Burr came into this world on September 25, 1850, in Clinton, Connecticut. Between 1874 and 1878, she gave birth to two daughters with Frederick Elbridge Burr. Her life ended on September 15, 1932, at the age of 81 in Hillsborough, Florida. She is buried right next to her daughter Clara and Son-in-Law Claude Oakley Moseley at the historic Limona Cemetery. At the time of her death, Susie was living with her daughter at their home near Brandon, Florida, which still stands strong today. Additionally, an inscription on her husband's memorial in Connecticut bears her name. Her grave also proudly displays a Maltese Cross symbolizing her membership in the National Woman's Relief Corps, Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic, Inc., established in 1883. This organization was formed by northern women who were loyal to the Union and served as a national patriotic women's group after the Civil War.
