With uniquely shaped scoops, this innovative design gathers a relatively small amount of soil with each individual pass, but is able to maximize material retention through a series of internal channels. Furthermore, the six-sectioned design and dual scoops per section significantly enhance the design's ability to collect material. As the barrel rotates, only one scoop comes into contact with the ground at any given time, but once this scoop collects some soil, the next scoop begins to interact with the ground. Highly detailed 3D-printed models of this final design, and many other potential designs, were created and rigorously tested in the field to perfect the design.
