Grapple Gun

Grapple Gun

My daughter wanted to dress up as Kim Possible for Halloween and I couldn't find a good Grapple Gun. I designed this mostly from scratch in Tinkercad except for the grip which was taken from diogorsergio's Blade Runner 2049 gun. The body is printed in PETG and the grapple in PLA just because I had those filaments in the right colours

New version - Better attachment of spike / grapple to body

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

i3 MK3

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.2

Infill:

Variable - see below

Filament:
Doesn't matter Doesn't matter Doesn't matter

Notes:

Body: 2 shells and 10% infill.
Vents and fins: 2 shells and 20% infill.

Spike: 100% infill.

I used a 3Doodler pen to weld the fins onto the spike for added strength.

Print the left and right sides, then glue those together.
Print the spike standing on end
Print 3 copies of the fin and glue to the spike equally spaced. The fins are designed to be glued to the spike so that they sit about 5 mm lower than the tip of the spike.
Print 2 copies of the vent and glue them to the sides of the gun. You might have to sand the edges a bit if the fit is too tight or you can print at 98%.

ALTERNATIVE: I included models of the gun sides with the vents in place (right_complete and left_complete) and the grapple with all fins attached (grapple_complete). The grapple will be fragile but will look better as a showpiece.

Category: Props
