Grand Parade: Kodachrome Basin State Park, Utah
sketchfab
When you enter the breathtaking Kodachrome Basin State Park in Utah, you'll pass through the Grand Parade, an awe-inspiring sight that I highly recommend exploring. In the 3D model, I deliberately left the road intact to provide you with a clear perspective of this stunning landscape. Every aspect of this model boasts high "relative accuracy," ensuring a precise representation of the park's natural beauty. This detailed 3D model was created specifically for the State park to produce a 3D printed replica of the Grand Parade, thereby preserving its unique features for future generations. The creation process involved manual drone operation and the capture of 820 photographs, which were then expertly processed using photogrammetry software. I employed Reality Capture to gently refine the model, while further cleanup for 3D printing was meticulously performed in Blender. Kodachrome Basin State Park is a natural wonder, boasting an impressive array of 67 monolithic stone spires, known as sedimentary pipes, which dramatically accentuate the multihued sandstone layers that reveal an astonishing 180 million years of geological history. The area's kaleidoscope of colors and breathtaking beauty so captivated a National Geographic Society expedition in 1948 that they dubbed it Kodachrome, inspired by the renowned color film of the time.
