After upgrading my Grainfather to the Connect control box, the mash/normal switch became redundant. I was constantly on edge, worried that a careless move would inadvertently shift the element to mash mode, thereby slowing down my brew day, so I made it a habit to double-check the switch - even though I had never actually triggered an accidental change. By removing the plastic/rubber water-resistant cover and replacing it with this hard shell, you can eliminate the risk of accidentally hitting the switch altogether.
