Grainfather Lid Lifter
thingiverse
One of my biggest complaints about the grandparent design is the lack of an easy way to lift the lid - no handle, no tool. Normally I end up using a pair of pliers but I don't like using metal on glass. So I made a tool that's designed like a pair of pliers. When it expands, it fits through the hole in the middle, and when it closes, it expands to hold the lid tight. I added some nubs to the handle to keep it from falling through the hole. I highly recommend printing this out of high-temperature plastic such as ABS or PETG might work well. The lid gets hot during mashing and temperature rises to a boil. No supports are required, but I would suggest using a high infill ratio. The center pin threads into one of the plier legs. For added security, you could add some glue or thread locker to keep it from falling out.
