Graber i3 ATX Y-Axis Toughened Motor Mount
thingiverse
After receiving the Graber ATX 3D printer frame, I encountered several issues right off the bat. First and foremost, there was a major problem with bolt holes on one side of the frame not lining up properly with its corresponding piece - this was clearly due to an error in the file used for laser cutting. My other pressing concern was that the y-axis motor's mounting system is incredibly flimsy, relying solely on a small screw to keep it in place. When tightened, it appeared skewed at an odd angle, which only added to my concerns about its stability. If I had been aware of these issues before attempting to cut out the frame, I would have taken steps to rectify them immediately. However, now that I'm faced with this reality, I'm opting for a DIY solution to reinforce the structure without resorting to any further cutting or drilling. One potential upgrade on my radar is implementing an anti-twist modification at the rear of the motor - it's a small change that could make a big difference in terms of overall performance and reliability.
