Grab Toy Infinite Introduction: A variation of the Grab Toy ++ (https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/grab-toy) is created, where the number of expansion frames is a parameter that can be adjusted to make the thing as large as desired. Theoretically, there should be a limit to how large it can be made before hinge friction and mass of the thing prevent proper opening and closing, but this limit remains unknown. Additionally, depending on the material used, a huge thing may snap under its own weight! A PLA print with 6 frames is shown in the photos, which still works somewhat although the grip at the jaw end is not very strong. Please note that the STL file for a GrabToy with 10 expansion frames has been included to demonstrate how the OpenSCAD code can generate things of any size. However, it has not been printed and therefore its functionality cannot be confirmed. In fact, after seeing the 6-frames print, I highly doubt the 10-frame version will be able to fully close the jaws. Nonetheless, if you do decide to print it, please let us know how it went! Main Routine: GrabToyInfinite(N): generates a grab toy with N expansion frames, which requires 3*N+1 hinges. Set global variable N to your desired value and press F6 to render. Be aware that more frames will result in longer rendering times. Some indicators: for N=10, it takes around 12 minutes for my outdated i7-920 to render the thing at moderate quality and approximately 42 minutes at high quality; for N=6, it takes about 26 minutes at high quality. Enjoy!
