GR180 Gas Turbine Jet Engine
grabcad
This Solidworks 2011 model illustrates Gerald Rutten's compact GR180 jet engine, ideal for remote-controlled aircraft. The engine measures 4 inches in diameter and 10 inches long yet boasts approx. 40 pounds of thrust. It employs a modified Schwitzer 74mm compressor from a turbocharger and a 70mm Dieter Albisser NGV/turbine, available as castings or fully machined online. Blueprints for the design can be found on Gerald Rutten's website, from which I created this 3D model. However, the model lacks functional parts like fasteners and lubrication lines, due to computer memory constraints and unclear attachment details of the inner thrust cone behind the turbine.
