GPS Side Mount for Rotor Riot HD1 FPV Drone (and possibly others)
thingiverse
I never actually used this but I will leave it up if anyone wants to try it. I created a much nicer one that mounts on the rear: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5163209 I designed this mount to fit my HD1 quadcopter from Rotor RIot. It snaps onto the underside of the top plate. It might fit your quad if your top plate is 2mm thick and 32.8mm wide. This is also designed to go on the left side of the quad as I put a 25 degree rearward tilt on the mount pad which should keep it pointing directly at the sky while flying. It raises the GPS to a higher location on the drone to help get a better view of the sky. It's snaps on very securely but allows you to slide it forward or backward depending on your battery position. I use 2 straps on my batteries and although it connects securely onto the mount the straps will also help secure the mount. I have a TBS M8.2 GPS but I think that's a common size. There is enough room to run the plug through the tube in the mount. I use a high quality thick double sided tape to hold the GPS. You might also want to run a strip of electrical tape around it if you don't trust the double stick tape. It should not interfere with a prop, even a severely bent one. I made the mount so it's not higher than the top of the battery thinking it might survive a crash on the top that way. You'll need supports turned on. Be careful when removing supports. FreeCAD drawing included.
