This design is a GPS L1 square patch antenna with an embedded LNA, available for public use without permission. Electrical specifications include a band of 1575.42+/-15 MHz, peak gain at boresight of 4.6 dBi, selectable LHCP or RHCP polarization, maximum boresight X-polarization of -15 dB, over 95% ohmic efficiency, and input return loss of less than -10 dB (88% power transmission efficiency). The LNA has a gain of 36 dB and NF of 1.05 dB, with a DC input range of 3V to 15V max and 17mA current draw. Mechanical specifications include an envelope size of 100x100x10mm and mass of 120g, utilizing 1mm FR4 substrates for the PCB (eps_r: 3.8-4.3) and a virgin Teflon dielectric substrate with eps_r = 2.1 and 6.5mm thickness. Nylon M3 bolts and nuts are included. Gerber, drill files, BOM, and schematic documentation are provided for reproducing the circuit. Note that the metallic square patch PCB must face the ground plane PCB, touching the Teflon substrate in between, and probe feeds are made of 1mm diameter calibrated Cu alloy wire.
