You'll need a device consisting of a base connected to a movable top, paired with an iOT board called Spark, to check the status of your butter remotely - whether it's there or running low. Just add platforms for milk, eggs, and juice and you can get alerts on what items are running out as you head home from work. Because a fridge isn't completely isolated like a Faraday cage, signals can pass in both directions.
