Gorn bust (not a hernia!)
thingiverse
A Gorn bust from Star Trek's "Arena" is depicted here, though not an exact replica. To ensure printer compatibility, it was designed with ease in mind. The bust was printed using a Makerbot Replicator at .27 slice accelerated settings without any issues. After painting, magnets were added to the base for added functionality and style. This print can serve as a unique hood ornament or a testament to one's geeky side - let viewers decide! The model was created in Sculptris and Truespace 5. This large print required 15% infill with two shells, taking over 10 hours to complete. This infill choice minimized gaps that might have been present with zero percent infill. For smaller prints, it's possible to use zero percent infill and fill in the gaps manually as needed. In this case, a larger print with minimal gaps was the desired outcome.
