Gorilla Yoyos
thingiverse
I was eagerly anticipating my 3D printer's arrival when I stumbled upon Zach / PaperScarecrow's MicroYo. I decided to give it a try, solely as a tribute to my nostalgic yoyo playing days. So far, I've only printed and tested the Damulag design, which I had set at 85% infill without supports in the middle. Unfortunately, this caused some layers not to adhere properly together, so I'll be trying again with supports and 100% infill if time allows. The finished product was slightly lighter than I'd prefer, but it functions well. I suspect that this would also mean the smaller models will be too light, making PaperScarecrow's thrust washers idea a more viable solution. In addition to playing around with basic tori, cylinders, subtraction, and splitting, my experiments led me to create designs reminiscent of old Duncan, Yoyojam (Minimo, Hitman, and Dark Magic) and Yoyofactory (DV888) yoyos. I'm sharing these designs in case anyone is interested in pursuing them further. Print Settings: Printer: Creality CR-7 Infill: 85% Post-Printing: You'll need an M3x16mm or M3x14mm bolt, along with an M3 nut or a similar component, plus a standard C-sized yoyo bearing and a couple of O-rings or flowable silicone for the response system.
