The imposing face of Medusa stands watchful over 165–168 High Street, Southampton, Hampshire, once the site of the Midland Bank. Constructed in 1900 by renowned architect Thomas Bostock Whinney, this Neo-Baroque structure features a stunning neoclassical motif that adds to its allure. Several rusticated round-headed arches adorn the building's facade, each topped with one of several grotesque heads, including Medusa herself. Today, this magnificent edifice boasts Grade II Listed Building status and has been transformed into a thriving restaurant, offering patrons a glimpse into Southampton's rich history. Summer 2017 photographs capture its grandeur in vivid detail.
