The Cosmic Voyager Random Creature Generator is UNLEASHED! The following being was conjured with the mere touch of a button... and then I molded a model around it. If you embark on Cosmos: Realms Beyond Reality, this tool is an absolute must-have for coming up with beings to inhabit your galaxy-spanning worlds and starship taverns and what have you. ZHRAM The Zhran, a sentient species residing on the seventh planet of the Nebulon System, have adapted to their scorching hot environment by developing a thick layer of moisture-rich scales along with a robust, honeycomb exoskeleton that shields them from the elements and potential predators. They move upright on two splayed legs, relying on their enormous size and ten sinuous arms to tear and rip apart their prey. Eight further arms may extend from pouches in a spherical sac suspended from the lower back which are used as tools and aid in navigating the jagged canyon walls characteristic of the region. The Zhran societal hierarchy is divided into casted families where the largest and strongest lead by force. Beta Zhrans are relegated to a servant caste, and are utilized to build the ships, towns, and various structures belonging to a leader's family. Due to their extremely social nature and general lack of ego, Zhrans tend to accept their place in society and rarely rebel against their leadership unless a more formidable specimen makes a claim. Zhran families possess an aggregate Stone Age level of technological advancement (Tech Level 0), although those living outside the familial structures exist in Bronze Age or savage conditions. Zhrans reproduce sexually, laying clusters of leathery eggs within protected nests. Adolescence is a perilous time for a Zhran, as only one in a thousand hatchlings will survive to maturity. Born with a covering of spiny filaments, a mature Zhran gradually sheds these and molts as the exoskeleton begins to form. Despite being distrustful of rival families, the Zhrans have shown themselves to be open to extraterrestrial visitors, several families having established trade with Colonial mining expeditions and Quasar world-explorers.
