Gravesworn Legions - Black Vein Covenant Season 5 - (2/3) Description The Gorehunters were once proud Vastari soldiers, trained to defend their empire against all threats. They fought bravely against Lotharius' invading forces, but were ultimately defeated. As the dust settled, some Vastari were taken hostage and held captive by Lotharius' army for a few months. For those short but grueling months, these prisoners were subjected to cruel experiments at the hands of Lotharius' loyal followers - a covenant of traitorous Vastari who had betrayed their own empire. These cultists sought to unlock the power of the Black Blood, a mysterious and deadly substance that flowed within the veins of the ghuls spawned by the Great Rot. Through their experiments, the cultists infused small amounts of Black Blood into the veins of the captive Vastari soldiers. Those who survived the deadly infusion mutated, gaining enhanced speed and agility. They also developed a fierce thirst for blood and gore, becoming ruthless hunters of their own kind. The Gorehunters, as they came to be known, now roam the lands of Vastari, feared and reviled by all who know of their existence. Though they were once Vastari themselves, the cruel experiments of the covenant have transformed them into something far more deadly and dangerous.
