GoPro "Shorty" Grip

GoPro "Shorty" Grip

I built this shorty grip after being told that WDW wouldn't allow my GoPro selfie stick in the parks, but I still wanted a secure way to hold my little action cam. After searching for a compact grip without finding one that fit the bill, I decided to design and build my own using modified models from other projects. The well-made hinge from Shadetherapper's GoPro Mount for Hot Shoe and DirtySteve's gaff hook hand grip served as inspiration - I liked the grip pattern and taper, very well done! The assembly is straightforward, perhaps a bit overbuilt with glued and screwed top assembly and two-piece top plate and hinge to account for stress on the parts. To avoid shearing at the middle of the pivot horizontally, the hinge plane was turned 90 degrees. Don't skimp on glue brand - I've tried various brands, and cheap off-brands often result in a poor bond. Make sure all parts are clean and follow adhesive application instructions to prevent this thing from falling apart and losing your camera!
