GoPro Mount - Emerson Helmet

thingiverse

I was in the market for a helmet mount to attach my camera, and I came across this option on Thingiverse: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1432829. It looked like a great solution, so I gave it a try and successfully printed it out. My next Airsoft game provided the perfect opportunity to test the mount in real-world conditions. However, disaster struck when I crashed into some branches at the first tree I encountered - the mount broke off completely. Upon closer inspection, I realized that the layers were oriented in the opposite direction of the stress forces, which made it prone to breaking. To resolve this issue, I decided to disassemble the mount and reorient the layers so they aligned with the stress forces. This approach allowed me to take advantage of each piece's strength without relying on supports during printing. Once printed out, you'll need to assemble all the pieces into place using instant glue - just be sure to double-check before applying it. I used Tinkercad as my tool for making these modifications: https://www.tinkercad.com/. I hope you find this solution helpful!
