This project involves creating a simple mount for a GoPro camera that screws onto a mic stand using a cheap mic clip. Initially, the idea was to build the entire thing from scratch with a threaded brass insert and locking bolt but it was later discovered that a mic clip could be bought on Amazon for just $2 with free shipping. If you want to use this mount as is, you will need the specified mic clip (Musician's Gear Heavy Duty Basic Mic Clip, part #: MS103-MG). However, if you prefer to use a different mic clip, you will need your chosen clip and GoProHD Mount (Female) aka thing 6154. You can customize the mount in the customizer but be aware that the necessary include for the GoProHD Mount will not appear in the preview. Alternatively, you can download the scad file and adjust the values yourself as needed. The standard GoPro quick connect is used to make it easy to attach and remove the camera as needed, allowing the use of accessories like the GoPro flexible 'goose neck' attachment. Another option considered was rotating the GoPro mount 90 degrees with respect to the mic clip for an extra axis of motion without a 90-degree GoPro extension. However, this might present printing issues that require support. A final option is to print the thing in two parts and assemble it after printing or even print it with a ball joint in between. The thing should be printed at 0.3mm layer height with 20% infill, 3 shells, and 3 perimeters. It is designed to be printed as it is oriented, and several successful prints have been made without support. If the GoPro mount does not slide in easily, file down the sides of the printed part for better fit. Pictures are included to guide assembly, showing how to take apart the original clip and replace it with the printed part. 'Action shots' also demonstrate how the mounted camera works. Enjoy!
