GoPro Hero 8 follow cam (chase cam) for paragliding?
thingiverse
Chase cam for paragliding inspired from the Vari'up model => https://www.variup.com/follow-cam This design: - includes a shell to hold the camera (so for GoPro Hero 8 only!) instead of using rubber bands - have a window at the back to access the touch screen when the camera is mounted The rest of the building is similar to the original model. I used: - 50 cm x 2 mm carbon fiber tubes (careful, it's fragile) - 30 cm width tulle. The 5 trapezoïdal faces are cut at once using a rolling cutter, sewn together using a sewing machine while making a "scabbard" (not sure of this word!) for the tubes. 2 littles threads secure the tulle structure to the printed part to not loose it in the air (it happened to me once). The GoPro can be secured either: - without anything if the friction with the shell is enough - by adding a leash to the camera mount (a hole allows the foldable camera mount to go through the printed part) - using a M3 screw on top of the camera. The back side of this hole is made for a M3 insert. The 2 mm holes for carbon fiber tubes can be rectified after the printing using a 2 mm drill. The hard part is to have enough friction but not too much. A last minute field solution to increase the friction is to add a blade of grass ;)
