I had an old gimbal that I wanted to bring back to life. I also wanted to see if my object was centered in the frame, so I added an old phone car mount and it works flawlessly. This gimbal was designed for a hero4, so I printed a hero5 camera mount and used two 3m bolts and nuts to attach it to the gimbal's camera plate. This allowed me to adjust the roll and pitch of the gimbal with ease. You will need something to balance the yaw. I used an old wheel weight from a car to get the job done. To control the gimbal I used a joystick and configured it through the storm32 GUI, which was a breeze. Works perfect, If you get the joystick listed below you can control pan, tilt, one button press for re-centering and two/three button press to select pan mode(PAN, PAN, PAN/PAN, HOLD, PAN). Wiring diagrams will be attached for your reference. To power the gimbal I used three 18650 batteries in series, which provides more than enough power to get the job done. You can use any battery configuration that you see fit, but only 2s to 4s are recommended. Change the design as needed to suit your needs. I remixed this using Tinkercad with ease. This joystick is a controller and IMU bundle, but you can also find just the joystick on amazon or ebay for a cheaper price. Test Footage: it's edited but no stabilization was added. I just wanted to film my kids on Christmas day riding in my son's new whip. https://youtu.be/0HxtDP18uuw Setting up storm32 gimbal controller: Part 1- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwaHjRw1Qqg Part 2- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIWaaKQvZWg&t=13s UPDATE 2017/12/26: I've also added pictures of my setting within the storm32 GUI if you need help. I also will add a link for setting up the storm32 for first time use if you're not familiar with this gimbal controller. Enjoy smooth footage.
