I mainly utilize external power banks on my cameras, freeing me from worrying about battery life during recordings. However, I faced an issue with my GoPro Hero 5 purchase. To address the concern of dust and splash proofing the charge port area, especially since most of my recordings take place in water, I came up with a solution that involves creating a protective cover for the charge port. The design was inspired by the dimensions of the GoPro's charge cord. The outer cover attaches to the existing opening on the camera's protective shell frame and snaps into place. It also features an extra top portion that can be secured using double-sided tape if needed. This cover ensures that the dust protection does not interfere with mounting or removing the camera from its shell, whether the charge port door is installed or removed. Additionally, it provides support to the charge cable end when in use. The inner cover, on the other hand, attaches directly to the GoPro's camera body, replacing the original charge port door before inserting the camera into its skeleton case. The user has the option of using either the inner cover, the outer cover, or both together.
