GoPro Hero 5/6/7 Weighted Placeholder Dummy
thingiverse
This is a precise mock-up for a GoPro Hero 5/6/7 that you can utilize as a placeholder on your RC vehicles during times when you don't want to risk your actual GoPro, but still need to achieve the right weight and CG for tuning or maiden flights. There's a slot inside where you can insert pennies to get within 1g of the actual weight of the GoPro. I used 32 or 33 pennies (I'm not entirely sure). If you print with the correct infill settings, the plug should fill in the remaining space in the slot and prevent the pennies from rattling around excessively, keeping the weight distribution consistent. This is designed to be printed in TPU. Print the GoPro with a 30% infill setting and print the plug with a 50% infill setting to achieve the correct weight. Your results may vary depending on the filament and print settings used, but it should be quite close. You can always print with higher infill and use fewer pennies to match the weight if needed. I employed Simplify3D's "waggle" infill setting to also make it somewhat squishy, which helps absorb impacts during those ill-fated wing launches.
