This is a GoPro Hero 5/6/7 case designed specifically for attaching to a helmet via chin mounting. The open USB/HDMI port allows easy connection of the external microphone dongle, ensuring high-quality audio in your footage. To make the case weatherproof, simply seal the mic dongle cable against the case using hot glue when you're finished filming. This way, the camera will remain secure and protected from the elements. When you remove the case to access the camera, the GoPro will automatically unplug from the external microphone, which is attached securely to your helmet. Simply slide the camera back into place and it will plug in seamlessly. Keep in mind that if your GoPro's thumbscrew is oriented in its default position, it may interfere with the bottom case screw, requiring you to remove the thumbscrew before disassembling the case. To avoid this issue, consider flipping the thumbscrew so that it protrudes from the ports side. The screws used for assembly are 2x flanged hex head M3x5mm, featuring a counter-sink design for added strength and stability. Be sure to test-fit the screws before finalizing your installation to ensure they don't dig into the camera's surface. When tightening the screws, be careful not to overtighten, as this can damage the case or the camera itself. ABS plastic is recommended over PLA due to its superior durability, but both materials will work effectively in this design. Updated Design: The front of the case has been modified to expose more of the GoPro for improved cooling efficiency. Additionally, the screw flange has been reinforced with extra material for increased strength and stability. The mounting prongs have been shortened while maintaining sufficient rotation range, allowing for secure attachment to your helmet. Corner radii have also been reduced for better printability.
