I stumbled upon an identical item for sale online and figured why not take matters into my own hands and create one myself. Designed for scuba diving but can also be utilized in other environments. Printed in vibrant orange PLA so if the unthinkable happens, it should be easy to locate. The printer settings were set at 100% infill to guarantee a secure airlock in the middle is maintained, thus allowing the object to float safely back up to the surface in the unlikely event of loss. Furthermore, I added a loop for a wrist strap - which I conveniently sourced from an old Wii nunchuck. UPDATE: Further testing revealed that the earlier airtight claim was actually inaccurate; after submerging it at depths around 7 meters or so on two separate occasions over the course of one hour, the object slowly began to fill with water. The pressure difference likely caused the tiny gaps between layers to become compromised, allowing water to seep in - and it still remains submerged nearly two weeks later! YMMV when it comes to varying printing technologies. SO! Given this newfound understanding, I went ahead and redesigned the model with an abundance of drainage holes. You can now find this updated design on the files page. Although it may not provide the same level of buoyancy, rest assured that water will no longer pose a problem.
