GoPro gravity gimbal
thingiverse
I needed a solution for keeping the cam moreor less steady while mounted on a boat. The gimbal solutions without motors that I could find either used counterweights or caused the mechanics to get in the shot when using the wide lens. So I decided to go upside down and to use gravity directly ;) Works reasonably well on a selfie stick as well if you mount it so the it hangs vertically from your stick - or just two of the ball gimbal systems ;) How does it work? There is a fancy sphere and two clamps, one with the screw block and the 2 prongs you fins on your camera to match. The clamps fit into groves on the ball and through that are kept centered. Movement is about 40° in all directions but no rotation like when using a full sphere. Check my 4-axis ball mount if you want to add rotation to the mix, same ball size. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4628982 There might be some additions coming depending on the feedback and long term use. If you want to stay posted or make some suggestions please check D.IY. Forums. I have a dedicated thread for this thing there: https://diy-forums.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=112
