GoPro extension to 17mm ball (motorcycle mount)

This is an extension arm that connects on one side to a GoPro "helmet" mount (self-adhesive style) and on the other side it has a 17mm ball. It's designed to affix a wireless charger onto a motorcycle, in my case is a cheap TaoTronics branded one.

There are two types of those self-adhesive mounts, one of them has a flat face and one of them has a double-curve.

I had to replace the GoPro-style thumb screw with a 4mm hex screw, as the thumb screw did not fit between the dashboard and the windshield. Obviously this makes it harder to tighten, but it's a one-shot deal anyway.

Use at least 35% infill. I find that PLA left in the sun for a while will eventually "cure" and temper becoming very hard. The key is to have a high infill rate so that the part does not distort during this process. Alternatively, you can leave the parts in the oven for 1h at 70C.

After "curing", check the fit again and retighten.

Print Settings

Rafts:

Doesn't Matter

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.2-0.3

Infill:

40-50%

Filament: any PLA

Category: Automotive
