This is an outline for a versatile underwater photography rig I designed to capture stunning video footage, stable static shots, and playful selfies with my GoPro camera. The key aim was to create a sturdy mount that enables smooth video shooting, a compact tripod for steady stills, and a selfie capability for capturing memorable moments. The frame is crafted from durable 20mm PVC conduit - specifically: * 1 piece 300mm long * 2 pieces 140mm long * 2 pieces 30mm long Additionally, it requires about 1m of 6mm bungee cord and a few cleverly designed components: * 1 x 3 Way Tee Junction Box - Black 20mm (https://www.wickes.co.uk/Products/Electrical+Lighting/Electrical-Cable+Cable-Management/Cable-Management/c/1000062?q=%3A%3AType%3AConduits&text=&Conduits=Conduits#) * 2 x Wickes Trunking Inspection Elbow - Black 20mm (https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Trunking-Inspection-Elbow---Black-20mm/p/712965) To secure my GoPro camera, I attached a sticky rotation mount to the junction unit. The only 3D printed component is the custom-designed plugs that seal the ends of the conduits. Assembling this underwater rig involves: 1. Threading bungee through an end cap and tying a knot next to the wider portion of the plug. 2. Passing the bungee through one of the 140mm tubes, followed by an elbow (removing the lid helps). 3. Thread the bungee through a short tube. 4. Crossing over the 3-way junction (removing the lid is helpful). 5. Passing the bungee through another short tube. 6. Going through another elbow (remove the lid again). 7. Threading the bungee through an additional 140mm tube. 8. Finally, passing the bungee through a second end cap. Tighten the bungee to secure all components in place and trim the excess cord for the next step. Next, remove the lid from the union and tie a bowline knot to the existing bungee. Then, thread the remaining bungee out of the third port and into the 300mm tube. Secure the free end by threading it through the third plug and pulling tight to seat the tube. Finally, tie off the excess bungee. Screw the lids back onto the junction and elbows, then attach the GoPro mount to the junction unit, and you're ready to capture stunning underwater footage.
