I wanted a phone mount that I could use with my GoPro grip. I found the "Easy Smartphone Gopro Mount" by Heliox. It was a good design, but the extension mechanism was too thin, making the mount wobbly and flimsy and caused my phone to drop. I decided to make some improvements to the design to make the mount stronger. I started from scratch with Fusion 360 and made further edits with OpenSCAD. I widened the extension mechanism and made it a wedge shape so that it will not drop out from the base. Both parts can be 3D printed without supports. To make it stronger, I used "50%" infill and "4" vertical shell perimeters. The mount should be able to hold phones with a width of 62mm to 92mm (including case). Post-Printing Assembly Depending on the tolerances of your 3D printer, the two parts might initially be a tight fit. In my case, it was very tight but the extension part is able to slide in with some force. Continue to slide the extension in and out and the parts should loosen and become smoother after a few minutes. If it doesn't fit at all, you may need to use sandpaper to gently file the edges of the extension part a little bit. Use rubber bands to loop through the slots and latch onto the extension part. I used three regular rubber bands but you can use more rubber bands to add more strength. Alternatively, you can use an elastic hair tie.
