I purchased a quirky gooseneck floor lamp as a gift for my young children when they were still quite small. The primary color shades became brittle and eventually snapped, but instead of discarding the entire lamp, I decided to create some brand new shades using this sparkly transparent PLA from Amazon. I designed the new shades in FreeCAD, taking advantage of its user-friendly interface and robust features. To ensure the longevity of my DIY project, I opted for LED lamps, which are a much safer choice than incandescent bulbs when working with PLA - those traditional bulbs would likely cause the plastic to soften or even melt. I printed the new shades in vase mode, taking care to achieve the perfect shape and size.
