Goose Decoy knockdown conversion
thingiverse
Newer knockdown decoys now feature a pivoting mechanism that enables them to fold up for simplified storage and transportation, as evident from photographs of Dive Bomb Snow goose decoys. I recently decided to upgrade my older Deadly Decoy Canada goose decoys. This was my first design incorporating a print-in-place hinge, and it required multiple iterations to perfect. The hinge is functioning correctly, so adjusting the holes for stake-out and the backbone rod should be sufficient for other decoy brands. To replace the original backbone (white plastic), I opted for bicycle spokes instead. Spokes are readily available, and a friend generously donated an old bike, providing approximately five dozen spokes and nipples in the process. I insert the spoke into the pivot piece, screw on the nipple, apply heat to the nipple, and then pull it back into the plastic pivot. Once cooled, the nipple becomes solidly embedded within the filament, eliminating any sharp ends.
