thingiverse
Alessandro Giuseppe Antonio Anastasio Volta, a trailblazing Italian physicist and chemist, made history on February 18, 1745, only to depart this life on March 5, 1827. He is credited with inventing the first electrical battery, known as the Voltaic pile, which burst forth into existence in 1796, leaving a lasting legacy in the annals of scientific discovery. In his groundbreaking report submitted to the President of the Royal Society in two comprehensive letters published in 1802, Volta boldly revealed that electricity could be chemically generated and thereby disproved the entrenched theory that it was exclusive to living organisms. Volta's pioneering invention sent shockwaves throughout the scientific community, setting off a flurry of experiments that ultimately paved the way for the birth of electrochemistry as a distinct field of study.
