Gonzo fist
thingiverse
My replication of the HST memorial from web photos taught me a thing or two about Blender. Tackling this project was a valuable learning experience. One version of my model features a hole in the fist, allowing it to be attached to a wine bottle stopper. Although I didn't include that feature in the Blender file, it does contain a model of the front of the "button" that fits into the middle of the fist. Update 3/1/2017: I added an STL of my model with the button and pre-drilled for use with a wine stopper. I used these to create the drill hole. I also posted a photo of a somewhat better paint job. Print Settings Printer: Monoprice Select Mini Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.175 Infill: 5% Notes: The drill hole for the wine stopper was pretty snug on my print, measuring 8.5mm in diameter as intended. I used PLA Plus and made adjustments with a Dremel. With regular PLA, you could likely just carve it out with hand tools as needed. How I Designed This After reading Vicki Wenderlich's guide to making a mushroom, I felt confident navigating the Blender interface. Watching Darrin Lile's 5-part series on Blender character modeling gave me the basic game plan for my model. The process was surprisingly reasonable! Most technical problems I encountered had already been addressed in a Blender forum.
