Gongzi Liao Fort

The imposing fortress was constructed by the Japanese forces in 1904, immediately following their invasion of Keelung under the terms of the Treaty of Shimonoseki with the Qing Dynasty. For years, it served as a strategic military outpost and a stronghold for troops stationed on the island after Taiwan's transfer from Japan to the Republic of China was finalized.
