Golf - Golf Tee (driver) V3 with connecting Anchor and Handle

Golf - Golf Tee (driver) V3 with connecting Anchor and Handle

prusaprinters

I made this model (put way too much time into this) but as an avid golfer I was getting tired of breaking or losing my driver tees and decided to see if I could make a better tee.  I hope you enjoy printing and playing with this model.Version 3 is harder to break or lose as well as easier to retrieve.  This version is made up of 4 parts (3 printed) with Tee and handle using TPU on a FDM printer and the anchor using Anycubic Ultra Tough resin on a SLA printer. The tee head snaps into an anchor with 20lb fishing line connecting the anchor through the tee head to a handle (on the other end of the line).  UsageThese models are for use on real turf and should be used as per usage Tee rules (see below rules).   Connect Tee to anchor and then place into the ground with line and handle hanging to the side.   AssemblyUse 20lb/9.1kg co-poly fishing line (12 inches) to secure the anchor, tee and handle into a bundle so they have a restricted distance they can travel from each other.Tie a knot (build up thickness of the line) at one end of the string and thread the other end through the base of the anchor.  For FDM printed anchor use a dab of superglue on the knot and then pull tight until the knot slips into the groove at the base of the anchor so that the line is secure.  For SLA printed anchor pull tight until the knot slips into the groove at the base of the anchor so that the line is secure and then dip the end in the liquid resin and then cure the resin.Extend the line from the top of the anchor through the base of the tee using the central channel and out the top of the tee.  Once the line has passed through the top of the Tee you will need to make a simple knot with 6cm of line extending past the knot.Pass the 6cm of line through one side of the handle and out the other side of the handle.  Then tie the line back to the simple knot and then tie it back to itself to form a non-moving line.  Use a dab of superglue to secure the knot. For the anchor text emboss if you want to color the text, dab acrylic paint with a Q-Tip into the text area, then wipe off excess and let dry.  You can gently sand if any residual remains outside of the text. Printing TipsPrint tee and handle models on FDM printer using TPU (very flexible) Print the anchor model on FDM printer using polycarbonate or on SLA printer with Anycubic Ultra Tough Resin.Print using a bright color (so the tee, handle and anchor can be easily seen if they launch away from the tee area during use).Print different Tee heights in a different color to easily differentiate sizes. For tee head print using 4 perimetersNo Supports required TestingA few years of prototyping and testing with use in over 50 rounds in 2024 and 198 rounds in 2023 have resulted in V3.Anchor printed using an FDM printer can break along the plane of weakness.  I print the tees vertically and have tried a number of different filaments (PETG, PLA, PC, PC-TPE) on the FDM printer and all seem to have a breaking point.  I have not tried printing the tees on an angle or horizontally but I expect it would.Anchors printed on a SLA printer using Anycubic Ultra Tough resin are a lot tougher to break since the layers are more strongly bound to each other and when the anchor does break it is with a conchoidal fracture and not along a plane of weakness. Model filesAnchor and handle can be used with the 3 different tee models (predefined height size models available of 1.25, 1.5 and 1.75 inch).  The diameter of the tee head stem increases in diameter the taller the tee to provide additional stability. Golf Tee ComplianceThis tee complies with the wording of the rules of golf (Rule 6.2) A tee is a device designed to raise the ball off the ground. A tee must not:be longer than 4 inches (101.6 mm); be designed or manufactured in such a way that it could indicate line of play; unduly influence the movement of the ball; or otherwise assist the player in making a stroke or in his play.Note: As an exception for difficult turf conditions, tees tethered together or to an anchor may be used during the round provided that the player does not align the tees or tether in such a way that could indicate line of play or otherwise assist the player in making a stroke Change LogVersion 1 tee and anchor released in November of 2022 using TPU for tee and PC-TPE for anchor.Version 2 enhanced tee, with a long and short anchor version and handle released in March of 2024 with minor updates in May.Version 3 enhanced tee, anchor and handle.  Added text to anchor.  Removed the short anchor as an option. SupportIf you are interested in the Anycubic Photon M5s Pro SLA printer (I use this one) or other Anycubic printers and want to learn more please go to Anycubic Store.   For $25 off use this CPMTPFIZJP coupon code at the Anycubic Store.
