Golf balls are precision-crafted orbs designed specifically for use on the golf course. According to official golf rules, a legitimate golf ball must weigh no more than 1.620 oz (45.93 grams) and measure at least 1.680 in (42.67 mm) in diameter. Golf balls are also required to meet strict performance standards regarding velocity, distance, and symmetry. Like golf clubs, these high-performance balls must undergo rigorous testing and approval from the R&A (formerly part of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews) and the United States Golf Association before they can be used in official competitions. Any golf ball that fails to meet these regulations will not be allowed on the course.
