Golf ball generator

Here are golf balls with varying numbers of dimples displayed side by side. Each one is available in a solid (requires supports to print) and split-joinable version. For the joinable versions, you may want to adjust the tolerances within the SCAD file. My own printer has poor tolerances, so on yours the fit might be loose. I haven't actually printed them yet. I expect even the split versions will struggle with the lower dimples, so you might need to add supports and refine or just ignore a few damaged dimples. The golf balls are generated using my approximate Tammes problem solver (for more information on the solver, see here). On Windows, you can download tammes.exe and then run it from the command line: tammes -scad 336 > 336.scad to generate an OpenSCAD file with 336 dimples. On other operating systems, just compile tammes.c. The calculations are probably too demanding for the OpenSCAD file to handle. See this video for the Tammes solver in action.
