Goldfish Scene 2: Kakurenbo
sketchfab
My second attempt at turning Sketchfab into a virtual aquarium of my own personal wonderland meets reality. Meet Halley, the majestic comet goldfish as he playfully dodges and weaves (Kakurenbo) between the lush roots of Water Hyacinth. He may not be the most skilled hide-and-seek artist, but I think he looks absolutely adorable anyway! On a development note, creating this Water Hyacinth was no easy feat - it took a tremendous amount of effort to model, texture and bring it to life. While modeling and texturing themselves weren't too challenging, making its roots react convincingly to the goldfish's motion proved to be a real pain. I'm starting to think that I should seriously consider publishing these aquatic plants as separate models for others to enjoy. Modeling, texturing, rigging and animation were all handled within Blender's capable hands, while Substance Painter took care of the original goldfish asset's texture work. Cloth simulation was used to create realistic plant root motion and goldfish fin movement. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this creation - all comments are welcome!
