Golden Ratio Seahorse Gears
thingiverse
Introducing Seahorse Gears, inspired by Nautilus Gears by MishaT (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:27233). Updated on 9/8/14 with a smooth-running version (v3), which doesn't latch in a closed position and is ideal for use with motors. Choose between v2, a latching gear, and v3, a smooth-running one. Added DXF files on 6/9/14 to accommodate laser cutter users. A new version (2.1) of the arm was released on 2/27/14, replacing pins with simple holes, using raw 1.75mm filament for hinges, as detailed in this article: http://makezine.com/projects/make-34/skill-builder-finishing-and-post-processing-your-3d-printed-objects/. A stronger pins version was attempted on 2/26/14, but failed to mate properly. Print two identical gears and one left & right arm side, using a 'Hilbert Curve' for seahorse gears' texture. For pins/rivets, refer to the mentioned article. Note that the 'assembled' file is only for visual reference.
