The model is in cm, scale to 1000% to printThe peg has no clearance. print at 940%. or try different scalingand the gem at 950%I always try to make a print of the games I like. Sadly there is little to no reference to the true shape of the idol. (and the references that I found are not consistent with each other) I had to make some assumptions. I try to be faithful to the pixelated sprites. And when I had no reference I made some artistic choices (like keeping the hexagonal shape as a leitmotif on the legs) I also made very minimal modifications to make it easier to print.There are 3 version of the gem: flat, with the front face split and one depth for vacuum formingI recommend printing it in resin. (resin printing master race) I printed mine in PLA and I spent lots of time sanding.On top of that my printer is off square. when you stack the 4 prints the slant is noticeable. I had to put wedges before gluing mine. So technically a golden banana.Q&A:How did you make that gem?I try many things. (you can see my pile of failures). Ultimately y print the flat gem, vacuum formed it in red acetate, paint the interior with red marker, fill it with epoxy resin and put a holographic paper in the back (you can see a pic of the holographic paper)You have to use red acetate. If you use clear the light makes some interference in the interface and you end up with green spills.Or just print it in clear red resin and varnish itWhat is gemFlatVac?Is the gem that I used for vacuum forming.
