Gold Ingot (remix)
thingiverse
I recently bought some Sunlu Silk PLA Light Gold and wanted to try it out. A gold ingot is the perfect choice! True, it's not nearly as large or heavy as a real gold bar. But it looks pretty cool. ## Remix I used the STL created by swimgod found here at **Gold Ingot**. I used Tinkercad to modify the original STL and filled in the depression on the bottom. Otherwise, it would need support. I'm not after any *realism*, just testing out some gold PLA. ## Print Details **Filament:** Sunlu, PLA, Silk Light Gold, 1.75mm **Temperatures:** 215C / 60C **Nozzle:** 0.4mm **Initial layer height:** 0.2mm **Layer height:** 0.12mm **Wall Thickness:** 1.6mm **Top Thickness:** 1.6mm **Bottom Thickness:** 1.6mm **Z Seam:** random **Ironing:** enabled **Ironing Pattern:** zig-zag **Infill:** 20% cubic **Infill line multiplier:** 1 **Initial Fan Speed:** 0% **Regular Fan Speed:** 100% **Regular Fan at Layer:** 4 **Print Speed(LCD):** 75% via LCD **Adhesion:** skirt, 5 lines **Supports:** none **Print Time:** 1.5 to 2.15 hours Printed on smooth glass, used a light application of hairspray. Initially it would not stick to bare glass. But a combination of hairspray and slowing the print speed fixed that issue. ## Filament Notes The Sunlu PLA, Silk Light Gold, 1.75mm filament printed easily for me except for some adhesion problems and getting the temperature correct. I found that printing at 225C resulted in a better-looking print. Increasing the bed temperature a few degrees seemed to reduce the lift on one corner. ## Included File(s) * **`GoldIngot1kg_Flat-remix.stl`** - STL file * **`SilverIngot1000oz_Flat.stl`** - Remixed the original into a silver ingot. * **`BlankIngot_Flat.stl`** - Just a blank ingot.
