GOES Cantenna
thingiverse
Cantenna design for receiving GOES satellite imagery and EMWIN. Side electronics box is for a Nooelec SAWbird+ GOES barebones. I have not built the complete setup yet, so this is a work in progress. The part can be printed and the interior of the can lined with aluminum foil tape like used in HVAC ductwork. Make sure the hole for the wire in the can is clear and the foil tape does not touch the wire. Solder the correct length wire to the SMA surface mount and then wire up. I found SMA right angle jumpers 6" long on Amazon. Parts may seem a tad loose (not super snug) for gluing. Gluing keeps all the electronics sealed from weather. Use RTV silicone or Gorilla glue. Feedhorn mast is for a standard 40mm FTA dish ring. Feel free to modify and let me know if there are suggested improvements. Thanks to Targenaut for the original box that allowed the hole spacing for the SAWbird+ to mount right. I will post pictures and instructions when the project is complete, including references to software and hardware installation to receive free GOES imagery direct from the Satellite. Designed in Autodesk Fusion 360, and the F3D files are attached for easy editing. This is my first make, so go easy on me!
