Godstow Abbey was a Cistercian nunnery located near Oxford, England. Founded by Queen Matilda of Scotland in 1133, it was dissolved by King Henry VIII in 1539 during the English Reformation. The abbey's most famous inhabitant was Margery Kempe, an English mystic and author who spent some time there in the early 15th century. Today, the site is owned by the University of Oxford and is operated as a museum featuring exhibits on the history of the abbey and its inhabitants.
