Pan was a demigod of shepherds and flocks, identified in Roman times as a faun, half human half animal, he had the head of a person with a beard, and the horns and legs of a ram. He was also the god of sexuality and male fertility as well as of wild nature. He possessed great potency and sexual appetite. He played the syringa or Pan's flute.
